Dalhousie Cantonment was established in the year 1867.The emergence of the Cantonment Board as a municipal body in Cantonments was basically in response to the need for maintenance of proper sanitation, health and hygiene in these areas. The scope of the Cantonment Board functions extends to the entire gamut of municipal administration. In addition to providing basic amenities, Cantonment Board, Dalhousie also manages general public welfare institutions and facilities to the residents of the Cantonment area. 

Qualification:-

"Minimum Essential Qualification
Must have passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent from a recognized Board of School Education or University with physical fitness as per Govt Prescribed standards
Essential Qualification Bachelor‟s Degree with experience in Horticulture/Agriculture/MTS etc
Minimum Physical standard required for Forest Guard
MEN
(i) Height : 165 cm.
(ii) Chest : 79 cm without expansion & 84 cm with expansion.
WOMEN
(i) Height : 150 cm.
(ii) Chest : 74 cm without expansion & 79 cm with expansion."
