The Indian Institute of Astrophysics, with its headquarters in Bengaluru, is an autonomous research institute wholly financed by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. IIA conducts research primarily in the areas of astronomy, astrophysics and related fields.

Job description:-

The positions are for carrying out astronomical observation with telescopes at night. Persons should be fit and willing to do full night (up to 12 hours) duty for 5 nights at a stretch, with appropriate compensatory off periods. Appointees will need to reside in quarters on campus or within 15 km of the campus. Should support data processing and archiving.

Qualification:
Essential:-

Full time course in Bachelor of Science in Physics/Maths/Chemistry or Bachelor of Science in Information Technology/ Electronics or Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA) or Bachelor Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized university / institute.
Desirable:- Knowledge of instrumentation and computers, data processing.

Experience:-
Essential:-

Minimum two years relevant experience in College / University laboratory or in a research laboratory of an R & D organization after graduation.
Desirable: Experience with astronomical telescopes.
