The Indian Institute of Astrophysics, with its headquarters in Bengaluru, is an autonomous research institute wholly financed by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. IIA conducts research primarily in the areas of astronomy, astrophysics and related fields.

Job description: The appointee will be responsible for maintenance of 11 KVA/440 V
transformer/sub-station, maintenance of DG sets, UPS, batteries and electrical accessories,
taking part in electrical installations, maintenance of power supply and low voltage accessories,
installation and maintenance of pumps, motors, etc. Should have experience in industrial and /or
commercial electrical systems and in preparing estimation. Appointees should work on shift
basis and should reside in quarters on campus or within 15 km of the campus.

Qualification:-

Essential: Three years full time course in Diploma in Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engineering with minimum 60% marks in the aggregate from a Central/State Government/AICTE recognized institute and with supervisory “C” certificate or with B License issued by the Electrical Licensing Board.
Desirable: Knowledge of Electrical protection devices/systems

Experience:-

Essential: Minimum two years experience after diploma of running/maintenance of different types of both high tension and low tension electrical installations including DG sets, underground cable system and knowledge of maintenance of electrical installations in state / central government / scientific / reputed organizations.;
Desirable: Computer knowledge, AUTOCAD drawing, installation / operation of protective systems / devices like SPD, lightning arrestors etc.
