The Indian Institute of Astrophysics, with its headquarters in Bengaluru, is an autonomous research institute wholly financed by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. IIA conducts research primarily in the areas of astronomy, astrophysics and related fields.

Job description:-

To carry out maintenance work and also take care of materials inspections at vendors place and maintaining the inventory of available Machines & tools. Whenever required, involve in making of models of telescopes, instruments etc. for public outreach related work.

Qualification:-

SSLC with one year full time NCTVT certificate course (ITI) in the trade of Carpenter with at least 60% marks from a Govt. recognized Industrial Training Institute.
Experience:-

Essential:-At least One year National Apprenticeship training certificate (NAC) & Two years experience in a reputed research institute or in a medium scale industry engaged in carpentry works after completion of ITI course OR Three years experience in a reputed research institute or in a medium scale industry engaged in carpentry works after completion of ITI course. Should be conversant with fabrication of wooden shelves, packing boxes, crates, polishing of wooden items and general maintenance of door locks, door closers, windows, door/window glasses, wooden tables/chairs, shelves, etc.

Desirable: Knowledge of fabrication of wooden models/Templates.
